Hell, somebody got in the soup recently just for shortening the customer’s name-and-title to “PIG”.

As every person on Twitter who has ever worked at Starbucks pointed out, the only way to generate that label   is to set your own name in the mobile app as “PIG,” order at the counter , and then pay with the app.

That was my great-grand father’s name actually.

Thanks for the clarification.

Fortunately, I’ve never worked at Starbucks.

To the person behind the Starbuck’s counter: Y ou know what IS your job? 1) Informing the manager if a customer brings a facilities issue to your attention and 2) not being a jerk to said customer.

I get it. Folks working retail are often underpaid and (unfortunately) frequently mistreated by entitled customers, especially during the holidays.  But that doesn’t make it okay to be a jerk to a customer.

I just thought the follow-up was worth noting.

I honestly didn’t pay any attention to the back-story on that one. I’ve known cops over the years who embraced the “pig” label good-naturedly and some who find it very offensive. Without being there I’d have no idea what transpired— and don’t really trust any social media outlet to portray whatever it was accurately.

It is a little distressing that now even a “coffee cup” can be controversial.

It was found in the bathroom of a dealership that was being remodeled. I don’t think Starbucks actually did that...

Ok, well that’s different then. I’d hope after the latest uproar Starbucks Corporate has put out a communication with stern language about the messages they put on their cups. :)

Reminds me of a nonprofit I used to work for - the maintenance director was a quasi-laid off GM jobs bank employee. When the store manager called to report that the self closing spring had pulled out and was hanging loose on the front door, he looked at it, said it needed a new eye hook, which he didn't have and would have to order, and that he'd be back in 3-6 weeks to fix it.
